Microsoft is the winner in our Äri laiendamine category as it used its AI expertise to enter into the digitally assisted solutions surgery market with the help of medical devices multinational Johnson & Johnson.

Under the terms of the deal with JJMDC, Microsoft will serve as Cloud services provider for all solutions in JJMDC’s digital surgery portfolio. Microsoft services extended to JJMC include Azure, Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365, as well as general AI and machine learning services.

Emergent Holdings is the winner of our mitmekesisus category after it implemented a comprehensive early career development program and invested in developing a strong pipeline of STEM talent through partnering with organisations such as Girls Who Code and Black Girls Code.

This category includes any projects that have led or will lead to a significant reduction in a company’s environmental impact and carbon footprint. This can include changes to materials and manufacturing, supply chain reviews; reduction in energy use or switches to renewables; recycling initiatives; and carbon offsetting. The category also includes projects that contribute to the environment such as tree planting schemes and river cleaning.

Planet Watch is the winner in our Keskkonna category as they put a focus on decentralising environmental monitoring by leveraging reliable yet affordable sensors writing data on the Algorand blockchain. The technology focuses on monitoring air quality in particular.

The company’s efforts are especially notable in light of the increased awareness of air quality brought up by the COVID pandemic.

InterVenn is the winner of the Finantseerimine award category after it raised significant financing to grow the network of partners on its AI-powered glycoproteomics platform. The funds will also be used in the development and bringing to market of the company’s liquid biopsy assay, Dawn.

The category includes any projects that demonstrate an innovative approach to the market. The category crosses over with many of our other categories and can include new products, novel product features, new business practices, new marketing and sales strategies and more.

NUHS Singapore is the winner in our Innovatsioon category after it created a new heart valve bioprosthesis mimicking the human mitral valve. The implant is made out of suitably flexible materials and features a special ring which helps the heart perform its normal contraction and dilation. Another feature which sets this product apart from similar devices is its customizability.

excientia is the winner in our Investeeringud category as the company invested $1.5m in the development of AI-designed COVID-19 drugs. Exscientia secured the money from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gates Philanthropy Partners. The additional funds have allowed the biotech company to make better use of its AI drug design platform for therapeutic development.

Oracle is planning to use Cerner’s expertise in the health technology sector to develop solutions that lower costs and the administrative workload at hospitals while also maintaining a high standard of patient privacy.

NuVasive is the winners in our toote Kaatrid category due to its significant contribution to medical 3D-printing. The medical devices company has launched a 3D-printed porous titanium implant for spine surgery which is available in different sizes and lordotic options. The device has a zero-step locking mechanism which makes it easier for surgeons performing the procedure to place screws in the implant.

Nanoclean is the winner in our ohutus category after the company launched the world’s smallest wearable air purifier. The device is a nasal filter which stops pollutants, allergens, bacteria, and viruses from entering the nasal cavity. Naso95, as the product is called, uses Nanofiber technology and is BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency) tested.

The charitable entity also launched a social enterprise named Global Access Health to make medical technology more accessible to the global south.
