With so many gaming headsets out there, it can be hard for a manufacturer to make theirs stand out.
And to look at, the EPOS H3 wired closed acoustic gaming headset doesn’t look to be anything special. Its onyx black or ghost white colour choices are understated and unassuming. It’s not until you hold the headset in your hands that you realise just how excellently made it is.
This is the first headset with sole EPOS branding on; other headsets from the company have been branded as EPOS | Sennheiser. Sennheiser is a name synonymous with quality audio products, and that quality still exists in EPOS as it’s still part of the same parent company (the Demant Group). But none of that is important; picking up the EPOS H3 headset for the first time speaks for itself.

It’s surprisingly light, thanks to a solid plastic construction. But don’t let that put you off. A stainless steel inner headband ensures the headset is robust, and quality padding on the ear cups and headband ensure it’s comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The lightness of the headset adds to that – once it’s on, you barely know it’s there.
We’ve previously reviewed the excellent EPOS | سنهایزر GSP 601, and it’s hard not to look at the EPOS H3 as a younger sibling. Both have a similar design, though the H3 is slightly smaller and more understated. In terms of quality, though, we’re hard-pushed to find much difference between the two. And that’s surprising, considering the EPOS H3 is almost half the price of the GSP 601: it has an RRP of £109, where the GSP 601 costs £199.
The sound quality of the EPOS H3 headset is beautiful. It’s crystal clear, with a great sense of depth. The smallest noises in the background stand out wonderfully, and it fully immerses you in the experience. Handily, you can adjust the sound with a dial on the right cup. Of course, being a gaming headset there’s a built-in mic which boasts studio-quality. It’s excellent when in use, though there’s no way to remove it if you just want to appreciate good quality audio. Thankfully, it can be folded up and out of the way.
Since it’s wired, there’s no faff when it comes to setting up the EPOS H3 headset; no software installations or updates are required. It’s truly plug and play. Pop the jack into whatever device you want to use it on, and you’re good to go. The box contains two separate cables: a 3.5mm jack to be used on any device, and a two-prong 3.5mm (with mic and audio jacks) to be used on PC. Both cables are high quality and braided, so you don’t have to worry about them getting damaged easily.
We’ve been continually impressed with EPOS’ product range, though the H3 may have surprised us the most. At £109, it’s still not exactly budget-priced, but it’s a significant amount cheaper than other products from the brand. We expected a noticeable drop in quality thanks to the lower price, but we didn’t find one. Its build quality is perhaps not کاملا as premium as the GSP 601, but the lighter, smaller frame means the headset is even more comfortable to wear. And when it comes to what’s important – excellent audio and mic quality – the EPOS H3 headset absolutely doesn’t cut any corners. It might not be flashy-looking, but it performs excellently.
