Rainbow Six Siege, one of the best competitive FPS games out there, is finally getting crossplay. Yep, you heard that right – soon you’ll be able to team up with friends on different platforms, but there are a few caveats.
Competitive integrity is a key focus for Ubisoft, so it’ll come as no surprise that full crossplay between PC and console will not be available in Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has stressed it is “wary” of adding such a feature, due to the advantages of mouse and keyboard over controllers.
So while the feature is coming, it won’t be as open as some of the other FPS games on the market. But that’s not neccessarily a bad thing. Here’s everything we know about Rainbow Six Siege crossplay, including when it’s coming, details on who will be able able to play together, and if you’ll be able to turn it off.
Rainbow Six Siege crossplay
While Rainbow Six Siege crossplay is coming, it’s not going to be the unified experience you see in games like Call of Duty: Warzone or Apex Legends. Here, the crossplay experience will be limited by platforms – meaning PC and console players will never be placed in the same game.

Instead, PC players will have the chance to join forces with those on cloud-based streaming platforms Stadia and Luna from June 30. Console players on Xbox and PlayStation will also be able to play together, but only when crossplay is enabled in early 2022.
Can you disable Rainbow Six Siege Crossplay?
If you’re not a fan of playing with others on different platforms, you’ll be glad to know you can turn off Rainbow Six Siege crossplay via the in-game settings.
However, be warned – turning off crossplay usually means you’ll have increased matchmaking times, so if you’re sick of looking at the main menu while looking for a game, you might want to think twice about turning the feature off.
Rainbow Six Siege cross-progression
In addition to cross play, Rainbow Six Siege is also getting cross-progression. This means you’ll be able to use the same inventory and carry your progress over to another platform free of charge. All you’ll need to do is link the same Ubisoft account to the relevant platforms you want to play on.
It’s worth noting though that your Rainbow Six Siege rank will not transfer over from another platform. If you’re Platinum on PC, you won’t be on console.
