There’s a lot of big game publishers these days, and with new ways to play games on PC, it seems that Steam isn’t the only platform to purchase games anymore. EA has Origin, Epic Games has the Epic Games Store, Ubisoft has Uplay, and even Activision Blizzard has Battle.net. Now, it seems that Amazon is going to be stepping into the ring with their own publishing division, as they’ve been working on some titles of their own from the Amazon Game Studios. However, it seems one of their first games is going to be delayed yet again.
New World, New Delay
New World is the game that Amazon is developing, being a vast MMO game putting players on a supernatural island, having to fend for themselves after surviving a shipwreck. Stranded on the magical island of Aeternum without any supplies or friends, players are going to have to work together to find a way off the island. However, nothing is as it seems as the rules of life and death don’t apply on the island, and it’s filled to the brim with magic and monsters. While the game was originally going to come out sometime during the spring of 2021, it was pushed back until the summer. Now, the game is being pushed back another month, putting the title for release on the 28th of September.
On the post made by the Twitter account, Amazon spoke about the title to its fans. “We want New World’s launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements based on what you encountered during the closed beta. So we’re going to take a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and Polish the game period new worlds global launch date is September 28th, 2021.”
Many fans are worried about the constant pushback for the release date, as the flop of CyberPunk 2077 is still fresh in the minds of players. Despite the constant amount of delays on the title, its release had users playing a buggy and unfinished version of the game. However, it seems that New World is the last bastion for Amazon Game Studios, as all hands have been put on the title. Originally, two other games were going to come with New World when Amazon took its first steps into game development and publishing. However, the two other games, Crucible and Breakway, have been put aside to finish development on New World, meaning this is the only title still in development. Since Amazon has shifted all their efforts into finishing the MMO, there’s a good chance that the game isn’t going to be delayed again. With players joining the closed beta and actually playing it, New World is ready to go, but this extra month is giving the developers the time they need to polish the game.
