Buterin Polls His Twitter Followers: Which Crypto Can Overtake ETH?

Buterin polls his Twitter followers over which crypto can overtake Ethereum and what are their preferences. He asked the followers to choose from a number of cryptos including BTC, Solana, Tron, Binance coin, and Cardano, so let’s see what the followers had to say in today’s etheruem latest news.

Buterin polls his Twitter followers asking:

“You wake up in 2035 and 80% of all transactions and savings in the world are in one currency that is not ETH. Which would you prefer it to be?”

Buterin asked to choose from BTC, USD, SOL, and ADA, and the second tweet he posted, allowed a choice from TRON, BNB, CNY, and NEO. The first poll ended with 600,697 votes and the second with 358,743 votes. Cardano topped the results on the first poll followed by BTC and Solana while Tron topped the second results followed by BNB and NEO. Buterin’s first poll includes the top crypto by market cap excluding stablecoins and at the time of writing, BTC as the biggest crypto has a market cap of $821 billion based on the data from Bitcoin.com Markets. Solana is the fifth crypto by market cap with $47 billion while Cardano is the seventh with a market cap of $42 billion. The second poll included Binance coin as the third-largest crypto and a market cap of $83 billion while Tron’s market cap is $7 billion.

While the Ethereum co-founder polls seem fund and attracted a lot of comments and likes on social media, many questioned Buterin’s motives for posting such polls and the choice of crypto he included whether votes were made by bots and the likelyhood that 80% of the transactions will be in one currency. Bitcoin traded Tone Vays commented that Vitalik could be looking for a new job and the FTX CEO Sam Bankman Fried opined that the results are wild. Other cryptos that have been recommended by Vitalik’s Twitter followers in response to the polls include XRP, DOGE, SHIB, and DOT.

In the meantime, a few people pointed out that the outcome of Buterin’s polls reflected the popularity of certain cryptos among his followers and Twitter users outlining that they have no bearing on the popularity of crypto in the real world. The Bank of America even believes Solana could take the market share away from Ethereum.
