The noble Lobkowicz family plans NFT auctions for digital restoration certificates for their historic properties and valuable art collection. In addition to the non-fungible tokens issued, Prince William Rudolf Lobkowicz plans a conference next month in Prague at Lobkowicz Palace.

According to the 27-year-old prince, the family doesn’t receive any public funding. In addition, these locations and items are considered national treasures and cannot go up for sale without governmental approval.

Enter the utility of NFTs. “My father sometimes says we are the richest poor people in the world. We are going to showcase some pieces that are in desperate need of restoration,” said Lobkowicz. One example of these royal NFTs will be an animated collectible. It depicts the degradation and renovation of a panel of sgraffito of Hercules at Nelahozeves Castle.

The young Czech prince believes NFTs are the future. “I can see NFTs as a new frontier,” Lobkowicz said. He also says this new venture is a means of connection with younger audiences.

As mentioned above, along with the NFT collection, there will be a conference on the topic of NFTs. Lobkowicz also invited several artists to sell NFTs with half of the proceeds for restoration.

Over the last year NFTs pushed their way into  almost every industry. From sports and fashion to music and real estate there is no stone unturned. Through these breakthrough collectibles, the creation of the metaverse is more of a reality.

Even some of the world’s major auction houses are in the NFT craze. Christie’s recently announced a “rare” NFT collection of both physical art and curio cards. While the Lobkowicz properties aren’t major museums, they are similar to large institutional collections. In the U.K the British Museum recently planned its entrance into the NFT space with Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.

In addition, the world-famous Russian State Hermitage Museum launched its own NFT collection on Binance. As NFTs become more mainstream, adoption from major cultural institutions will continue.
