Devcon Begins in Colombia

Devcon VI opened to a Colombian dance in Bogota, Colombia’s capital, after a colorful animated intro that highlighted the achievements so far.

That includes EIP-1559, the Merge, defi summer, NFT summer, and plenty of memes in between with the event to continue for four days until Friday.

This is the first time ethereum coders meet in three years since 2019, with many of them to take to the stage today and in the following days.

That includes ethereum’s co-founder Vitalik Buterin, as well as eth maintainer Danny Ryan, in addition to co-ordinator Tim Beiko, and plenty of others.

Such as Adrian Manning, the Lighthouse dev, who will lighten up the room with a talk on “Reducing Beacon Chain Bandwidth for Institutional and Home Stakers.”

Unlike the bitcoin conferences, Devcon tends to be a bit more code focused, with Beiko for example to hold a “Ethereum Magicians Protocol Roadmap Session.”

Buterin himself will talk on “What to know about Zero Knowledge,” but there are also talks like “Unlocking Civilizational Hypercomplexity with Ethereum.”

That’s by Venkatesh Rao who holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering but now writes a blog.

A much younger Max Semenchuk, Deputy Head Of The Virtual Assets Project Office Ministry Of The Digital Transformation Of Ukraine, will talk on “Web3 in the Ukraine government: integration & impact.”

And this is just a glimpse, with the full schedule seemingly endless. And the best bit is that there’s a livestream.

So if you couldn’t make it to Colombia, you can join the 172 people currently watching the live event as Devcon finally begins after three years.
