Source Node: 1132659

We take a look at some of the most interesting moments of day 3.

The third day of The International 10 was as interesting as the first two. We are just one day away until the Group Stage comes to an end, so every victory counts. As expected, some of the heavy favorites to win the event are doing very well, but teams such as Thunder Predator and SG esports haven’t had the chance to show their prowess yet. Let’s check out some of the takeaways from the third day of this epic event.

Thunder Predator got eliminated

Despite being one of the best teams in South America, Thunder Predator couldn’t live up to the expectations. Although it has good players in its roster, the team couldn’t win a single game on the big stage.

After losing every series in Day 1 and Day 2, the same thing happened today after losing against VP and EG. The NA powerhouse was able to put an end to TP’s dreams after they won the series.

The Chinese continue to dominate

If we put Team Aster aside, the top Chinese Dota 2 teams continue to dominate The International 10’s Group Stage. After two days of constant victories, Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD are among the strongest competitors for the trophy. Both teams had massive success in the last three days, including today.

PSG.LGD was able to defeat Vici Gaming, another Chinese powerhouse that is doing pretty well so far. The first game between the two was pretty interesting because both teams had a lot of chances to succeed. In the end, LGD took the win in their favor and absolutely demolished their opponents in the second game of the series. In fact, Wang “Ame” Chunyu and his teammates needed just 18 minutes to secure their victory.

The second series for PSG.LGD also finished in their favor. The Chinese team was able to win against SG esports, which puts the SA team in a horrible position. Unless they change something in their performance, Otávio “Tavo” Gabriel and the rest from his team will be eliminated.

As for Invictus Gaming, TI 2 champions had no trouble against Team Aster after quick two games. Although Aster has good drafts, iG was able to cope with aggression and got the items they need items. This allowed them to snowball and claim the victory in their favor.

After the success, the team dominated against another powerhouse in the group – Alliance. Although Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov tried to help his team, he was unable to stop the powerful Chinese powerhouse.

EG vs OG was an awesome series

Perhaps the most anticipated and also the most interesting series of the day was between Evil Geniuses and OG. Both teams perform well so far and are neck to neck on the leaderboard. This made the clash of the two titans even more interesting to watch. Let’s also not forget about Syed Suail “SumaiL” Hassan, who will have to play against his former team.

The first game was amazing because we got to see a classic Magnus and Juggernaut combo from OG. Regardless of the patch, this is one of the hero combinations that usually works really well. This time was no exception because the two times TI winner dominated their NA counterparts.

As expected, OG grabbed the lead from early on and didn’t let EG with any chances. Artour “Arteezy” Babaev and the other stars from EG tried to counter OG’s deadly combo with Invoker and MK. Although the two heroes have proven to be quite successful, OG absolutely ripped through the competition like a knife through butter.

Following the loss, EG decided to step up their game. Despite that, OG had to lead during the first 20 minutes of the game, thanks to the Gyro and IO. It seemed like everything was going according to plan because OG was slowly but steadily pushing their enemy’s T3 towers. This is where things changed because EG was able to win a significant team fight. With the momentum by their side, the NA powerhouse managed to turn things around.

There were several messy fights afterward (one of them took place inside EG’s base), but in the end, the NA team won the second game.

Standings after Day 3

The Chinese teams continue to lead the pack with Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD the top seed of their respective groups. While Virtus.Pro locks down second place in Group A with Vici Gaming taking the honors for Group B. But things aren’t looking good for Quincy Crew and SGE, with both teams sitting at a score of 2-0, and facing elimination on Day 4.
