Emirates, the largest airline and the flag carrier in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has plans of expanding its operators in South Africa further from October 2021. From October, the airline said, it will boost its schedule to 28 weekly flights in and out of South Africa. Note that this is the largest weekly schedule for Emirates for South Africa since the time pandemic kicked in. The airline wants to give customers flying between South Africa and Dubai more competitive options. From Dubai, Emirates has a network of over 120 international destinations which just gives the customers more options to travel comfortably.

Emirates said, “The ramp-up of operations will see double daily flights to Johannesburg, including the introduction of Emirates’ iconic A380 on one of the daily flights, in addition to daily services to both Cape Town and Durban. The new frequencies and capacity increases across all of the airline’s gateways in South Africa are effective from 31 October 2021.”

Emirates Will Operate Double Daily A380 Flights at Johannesburg

The airline said that it will be operating double daily A380 flights at Johannesburg from January 1, 2022. The A380 that Emirates will use to serve Johannesburg has everything a passenger can wish for. There is a First Class Private Suite, Luxurious Shower Spa, Onboard lounge, and other classes such as Economy and Premium Economy in the aircraft.

The reason why Emirates is increasing the number of flights to and from South Africa is the rise in demand for travel to and from Dubai. Since Dubai is allowing people who are completely vaccinated in the country without the requirement of a mandatory two weeks or 14 days quarantine, the demand for travel has increased. South Africans can stay stress-free as they can enter the UAE without any need for quarantine.

Emirates said, “South African travellers visiting Dubai must present a negative COVID‑19 PCR test certificate with a QR code issued within 48 hours of the time the sample was collected at an approved local health facility.”
