ENTREPRENEURSHIP, DIVERSITY AND THE GLOBAL SOUTH GO TO A CONFERENCE

How can intellectual activism transform work and organizations? How can we support women entrepreneurs historically marginalised in the Global South? These are some of the questions the 2023 Gender, Work and Organization (GWO) conference will try to address.

Hosted for the first time on African shores at Stellenbosch, South Africa, the conference theme is Marginalised gender identities – how can intellectual activism transform work and organization?

Among the others, Stream 22 focuses on Women entrepreneurship: sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the Global South post-Covid-19 pandemic.

The importance of this track consists of the fact that mainstream economists see entrepreneurship as a gender-neutral activity. Unfortunately, sex, gender, class, age, family, religion, ethnicity and the more general social or geographic context do play a role in limiting the contribution of women to social-economic development.

Therefore, to better the understanding of these themes, the organizers are asking for papers covering the following topics:

• Sustainable and Inclusive Economy
• Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on women entrepreneurs
• Women Entrepreneurship Policy
• Rural entrepreneurship
• Women in the informal sector
• Theories that promote women’s entrepreneurship
• Refugee Women Entrepreneurs in the Global South
• Funding and Support for women-owned business during COVID-19
• Gendered Experiences of Entrepreneurs during COVID-19 and Lockdowns
• The intersections between family and business during COVID-19.
• Intersectoral implications of women-run businesses during COVID-19
• Resilience and flexibility during COVID-1.

The Call for Paper is now open and you can submit your abstract by the 7th of November 2022.
