HoloLens 2 Industrial Edition, the augmented and mixed reality headset designed for use in regulated industrial environments, is now available to buy.
Microsoft has set the industrial edition’s price at $4,950, a hefty sum for any immersive technology. For comparison, the base model costs $3,500.
But this version was designed, built, and tested for both clean room compatibility (ISO 14644-1 Class 5-8) and intrinsic safety standards (UL Class I, Division 2).

<p>It’s also supported with a two-year warranty and a rapid replacement programme, minimising downtime, with advance exchange and expedited shipping.</p>
<p>HoloLens 2 Industrial Edition is aimed at Microsoft enterprise customers across the energy, healthcare and manufacturing sectors that wanted to use the headset in regulated industrial environments.</p>
<p>For example, Microsoft’s customers in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries require a headset that meets particle emissions standards to enter and operate in their highly controlled clean room environments.</p>
<p>Similarly in the energy sector, customers need a headset that can function safely in potentially hazardous environments.</p>

<p>Microsoft is well versed in customising its flagship augmented and mixed reality product for particular customers, industries and sectors. Trimble XR10 with HoloLens 2 is designed for workers in dirty, loud and safety-controlled environments.</p>

is also in the works.
And don’t forget that Microsoft recently won a $21.9 billion contract to produce the custom augmented reality headsets under development for the US Army, which are based on HoloLens 2.
