You’re invited to an upcoming Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest webinar on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 4:00–5:30 p.m. Eastern Time/3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time. This webinar will share research on the Networked Improvement Community (NIC) model and show how educators can form NICs to improve student learning outcomes.
During the webinar, Alicia Espinoza, senior technical assistant consultant at the American Institutes for Research®, will discuss the essential features of the NIC model and explain how practitioners can conduct continuous improvement cycles to develop, test, and refine interventions to address a common problem of practice. REL Midwest staff Dr. Dominique Bradley, researcher, and Dr. Cortney Rowland, principal technical assistant consultant, will describe how REL Midwest partnered with area learning center (ALC) practitioners in Minnesota to facilitate two NICs. They will share how NIC participants applied improvement science methods to strengthen credit recovery and graduation rates for students in ALCs. The webinar will conclude with a panel featuring the expert presenters and two members of the virtual Minnesota NIC, Bradley Jensen and Alyssa Prater, lead advisors at the Empower Learning Center in Hinckley-Finlayson Public Schools. Webinar attendees will have the opportunity to ask the presenters questions throughout the event as well as during the panel discussion.

This webinar will highlight key research takeaways from a REL Midwest study on Indiana and Minnesota students who focused on CTE in high school. The webinar will feature practitioner perspectives and actionable strategies that teachers and counselors can use to help students choose CTE courses that align with their career aspirations.
