Latest RuneScape flashback quest has players rewriting history

Source Node: 802218

As a part of its 20th anniversary, RuneScape, the massively popular free-to-play MMO is releasing a ton of content. The game’s developer, Jagex, has already given players dinosaur bosses to fight against, and a couple of new quests. However, one of those quests is an ongoing, multi-part story that impacts the fate of RuneScape‘s world. Titled Flashback, this quest is the second part of the Once Upon A Time storyline and will task players with reviving the classic heroes of RuneScape.

Flashback will, unsurprisingly, take players to some weird places with unique faces in RuneScape. In this quest, players continue to fight against the questline’s antagonist Relomia, as she rewrites the history of Gielinor, the world RuneScape takes place in. Relomia’s edits have resulted in the deaths of main characters throughout the history of Gielinor, causing drastic changes to the world. To fix the timeline, players ally with Death and a mysterious ghost named Closure to bring three heroes back to life. Players that complete this quest will receive a medium XP lamp and Closure’s book.

More RuneScape coming later this year

Content for RuneScape this year isn’t stopping at Flashback or the Once Upon A Time questline. Jagex has even more quests and content planned for both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. However, if you’re a big fan of the series and just want a bit more of it in your life, Jagex has something special for you. As part of the game’s 20th anniversary, Jagex has put together RuneScape: The First 20 Years – An Illustrated History. This book, published by Dark Horse Books, will give players a behind-the-scenes look at the game and its evolution over the past two decades. A deluxe edition of this book will also be made available, but we don’t have a release date for the book just yet.
