The OnlyFans porn-friendly platform to adopt Ethereum NFT profiles and the users could now get even more creative with their profile pictures so let’s find out more in today’s latest ethereum news.

OnlyFans is a subscription site that is known for adult content and it followed Twitter in enabling NFT profile pictures. The OnlyFans porn-friendly platform connects content creators with subscribers and said that its users can use verified ETH NFTs in their profile images according to the latest reports from Reuters. The creators who do so will receive an ETH symbol to show that they own the asset.

The NFTs are blockchain-based deeds of ownership which often are connected to digital images. They became a huge busienss in 2021 and celebrities started using them to convey their status and artists even found ways to monetize their work. OpenSea, the biggest NFT trading platform is valued at $13.3 billion accoridng to the company’s estimates after the Series C Raise. The idea of digital ownership is central to a Web3 vision in a world where decentralized networks allow people to trade value without contrl by one entity. It is also important that OnlyFans is a Web3 company whose business model has at times put it at odds with the traditional financial system. The CEO Amrapali noted:

“Our mission is to empower creators to own their full potential. This feature is the first step in exploring the role that NFTs can play on our platform.”

After the launch in 2016, OnlyFans became a bastion for the adult models with many looking to take act direct to audiences and cut out the middlemen. Similar to Patreon, the OnlyFans took a cut of the action in exchange for use of the platform, and the former adult industry star Mia Khalifa and Blac Chyna are some of the OpenFan’s Top-earning creators. The site has worked to shed its pornographic image and back in August, it even said it will ban “Sexually explicit materials” which lay the blame on the banking partners and the payment providers or the groups that started cutting off funds to Pornhub in 2020. It did however shortly after walk down the ban.

The company which Gan took over in December after a 15-month stint as the CMO, played up its non-nude content. Its Twitter page even includes live sessions from musicians like NEVERmind, but also there are fashion tips, cosplay tutorials, and more but it does still push on sex appeal with suggestive videos and photos. Another major social media site decided to verify the NFTs for profile pics as well. Twitter brought the assets to the site and Reddit is now working on a similar feature and Instagram is exploring the same thing.
