Players representing Team Britain at Global Esports Games announced, with UK esports veterans Mark Weller, Ryan Hart, TeaGuvnor and more involved

Britain will be represented at this year’s Global Esports Games (GEG) in Street Fighter V, Dota 2 (open and women’s tournaments) and eFootball 2022, with a host of experienced talent helping out.

GEG will take place in Singapore in December 2021, which will see esports teams from more than 80 countries and territories compete for pride and glory. It’s a medal event that will not include prize money, and is set up by the Global Esports Federation, which formed in December 2019 and has links with the British Esports Association.

British Esports has enlisted the support of Mark Weller, chief gaming officer at UK esports org Vexed Gaming as the team manager for Great Britain.

In Street Fighter V, British 6x Guiness World Record Holder and legendary former pro player Ryan Hart has been appointed by the British Esports Association to aid in the selection process for Street Fighter V. 

closed qualifier was held where eight top UK players faced off against one another for the chance to represent Team Britain and receive a direct invite to the upcoming Global Esports Games. London-based Kim-Philippe Ruddy ‘The4Phillz’ Badiabio came out on top and will head directly to the world finals in Singapore.

In eFootball 2022, team manager Mark Weller selected Scottish player Rob ‘RobbieDeBoer14’ Mclean to represent the British squad for the Global Esports Games Singapore. 

Mclean became the first ever player from the UK to win the Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) European Championship in Seville which was held at the Olympic stadium, and he went on to win a number of titles under British organisations.

In Dota 2, experienced coach and British Tl 10 broadcast talent, TeaGuvnor, was put forward for selection. 

He has rounded out a team of UK players for the GEG Dota 2 Open, which currently holds the highest ratings within the UK. The full squad can be found below:

  • TANNER (Support)
  • TeaGuvnor (C) (Support)

For the Dota 2 women’s tournament, following a public recruitment campaign in conjunction with British Esports’ Women in Esports initiative and the Dota Valkyries, the following Team Britain Dota 2 women’s team has been announced as: 

  • Little Lucy (Carry)
  • Sheepsticked (C) (Mid)
  • Bellemiku (Offlane)
  • Soong45 (Support)
  • Lily Milne (Support)

The team will be taking part in regional qualifiers on November 6th and 7th, which will be broadcast on the Global Esports Federation YouTube and Global Esports Federation Twitch with further details to be announced. 

Due to ever-changing COVID travel regulations, reserves are being recruited meaning that players and team rosters may change ahead of the games.
