Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to get Rage Fist TM

Rage Fist is a unique physical Ghost-type move that starts out at 50 base power but can eventually reach a staggering 350. Given how strong it can get, a lot of players are interested in teaching it their Pokémon. However, that isn’t as simple a task as you might expect. Here’s our guide on how to get Rage Fist TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to get Rage Fist TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Contrary to what most players think Rage Fist doesn’t have a TM in the first place. Instead, it is the signature move of both Primeape and its new evolution, Annihilape. This means that you cannot find a TM for Rage Fist and it cannot be taught to any other Pokémon outside of those two.

Instead of relying on a TM, Primeape learns Rage Fist by leveling up in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Once Primeape reaches level 35, it will learn Rage Fist, with which you can then replace another move. If your Primeape is already beyond level 35 and does not know Rage Fist, you’ll need to use the Remember Moves feature found on the summary page.

Although it is a strong move, the most popular use of Rage Fist has nothing to do with battling. Rage Fist is required to evolve Primeape into Annihilape. To evolve Primeape, you need to teach Primeape Rage Fist, use the move 20 times, and then level it up once.

Although there is no Rage Fist TM, that doesn’t mean that the new Ghost-type move is just a gimmick in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. When it evolves, Annihilape gains an additional Ghost typing giving Rage Fist an additional 50% STAB damage. After Annihilape takes a hit Rage Fist will jump up to 100 Base Power making it one of the best Ghost-type moves in Generation Nine.
