At the end of May, Riot had announced its collaboration with Nodwin Gaming to give the South Asian region its first-ever official Championship event and to be a part of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Circuit.
The Conquerors Championship event will lead the winner to the APAC Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) and from there onto the VCT Champions event, to be held later in November. As of now, North American side Sentinels are the only team who have qualified for the Champions event after winning Stage 1 & 2 in the Masters division.
Valorant Conquerors Championship is a framework of the VCT Circuit which would further help teams and their players from the South Asian region make an impact alongside the rest teams from across the globe. Nodwin in a press release stated that VCC will have a prize pool of 25 Lakhs INR ($33,700 USD approx)
Let us talk about the ongoing Conquerors Championship tournament powered by Nodwin Gaming. Five regional qualifiers along with a wildcard event had been decked up by the event organizer out of which, five teams have already been determined for the former main event. As added, the last and final qualifier will be a wildcard entry for those who ended up as runner-ups in their regional qualifiers.
The list of the six qualifiers are as follows:
- 1. India Qualifier (IN)
- 2. Nepal and Bhutan Qualifier (NP/BT)
- 3. Pakistan and Afghanistan Qualifier (PK/AF)
- 4. Bangladesh Qualifier (BD)
- 5. Sri Lanka and Maldives Qualifier (LK/MV)
- 6. Wildcard Qualifier
It all started with the Indian Qualifier #1 which was won by Velocity Gaming (VLT) over Global Esports as they were the first team ever to advance onto the VCC Finals. This was followed by the Pakistan and Afghanistan Qualifier where a total of 8 teams signed up to stay in contention for the main VCC occasion. Salt Esports came out on top from the PK/AF region to join VLT Gaming at the main event.
Nodwin Gaming were indeed generous in providing the regions India, Pakistan and Afghanistan with two sets of qualifiers in a bid to accommodate every team willing to compete for the ultimate battle and due to their past historic presence in Esports.
Moving on, Damaru Gaming from NP/BT region, Crash Landin on You from the LK/MV region and Exceeli Esports from the BD region made it past their opponents and have booked their berth at the Conquerors Championship ahead of APAC Last Chance.
In the second leg of Indian Qualifier, we got to witness a couple of new faces in the Round of 16, but in the end, it was Global Esports who triumphed over Team XO after a successful shot at redemption from their loss in the previous one. Team XO led by Simar “Psy” Sethi has now been relegated to the Wildcard event, and will lock horns with Legion, a team based in Nepal.
Team Arrow from Pakistan were yet again denied a spot further towards VCC as they fell to Team Exploit in the Grand Finals. They too have been relegated to the Wildcard event and would go against Lexious Gaming today in the Round of 16.
Update: Enigma Gaming from India have been given a wildcard slot after two consecutive Semi-final appearances.
The Wildcard event kicks off today with 8 teams who were unable to go past their regional qualifiers will be given one final passage towards the ultimate Valorant Conquerors Championship.
