Worldcoin is still in its preliminary stages. They haven’t revealed many details. Much of what we know comes from an article in Bloomberg. This relatively obscure startup has already raised $25 million from investors.
Among them are Andreessen Horowitz, the venture capital arm of Coinbase Global Inc., LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, and Day One Ventures. There’s some serious money behind it, but none of the investors were ready to speak with reporters.
Altman developed the idea for Worldcoin after hearing about universal basic income. Cryptocurrency would make it easy to send money around the world. The head of the company, Alexander Blania, hopes the startup will improve access to financial services.
