Dragi prijatelj:

This is just one of the startling statistics about children’s digital media use that drives Children and Screens: The Institute of Digital Media and Child Development to translate research into action. Today, the need for interdisciplinary, scientific research to address compelling questions regarding media’s impact on child development is as urgent as ever.

With just a few days remaining in 2022, we wanted to share a few of the year’s accomplishments with you.

2022 v številkah

We hosted 16 #AskTheExperts webinars, free and open to the public, on salient media-related topics including social media, online gaming, and body image. More than 8,000 parents, educators, clinicians, and others registered for the webinars, which garnered a Webby Awards nomination in the “Best Virtual & Remote – Health and Wellness” category. Those who attended gave the events an average rating of 4.75 out of five stars. All webinars are available on the Children and Screens YouTube kanal.
In total, we convened more than 210 interdisciplinary experts from around the world, including those at our Educational Technology and Virtual Learning Research Retreat in May, a groundbreaking four-day virtual conference that addressed pressing questions about education and technology use both inside and outside of the classroom.

As part of our mission to develop and strengthen talent in the field, we were proud to host more than 122 undergraduate and graduate pripravniki from around the nation.

Of course, we continue our efforts to advocate for sound public policy at the national level to protect children’s online privacy, and we are hosting the 2023 Digital Media and Developing Minds International Scientific Congress in Washington, DC on September 23-25.

And that’s just a snapshot!

This work would not be possible without a community of like-minded individuals like yourself. It is your generosity of resources, spirit, and time that have allowed us to provide objective, integrative scientific programming and materials to parents, educators, researchers, clinicians, public health experts, and government agency representatives.

S hvaležnostjo,

Kris Perry, Executive Director
