2025 NFL Draft Prospect Watchlist: Cornerbacks

Source Node: 2575829

The 2024 NFL Draft is over and teams are getting comfortable with their new draft picks. The next class of players is getting prepared now for another year of college football. Each position will be analyzed in the coming days. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft prospect watchlist: Cornerbacks.

Denzel Burke, Ohio State Buckeyes

Burke joined the Buckeyes in 2021 and immediately jumped into the starting lineup. He had 12 passes defended and one interception in his first year on campus. In 2022, Burke helped the Buckeyes make the College Football Playoff with 34 total tackles and five passes defended. For the 2023 season, Burke tallied one interception and nine passes defended.

At 6-foot-1, he has good length for the position, but could add more weight to his frame. He has good athleticism to help him mirror receivers in man-to-man coverage. Burke also has good ball skills, as he tracks the ball well, then attacks the catchpoint. He will need to work on limiting big plays to increase his stock.

Will Johnson, Michigan Wolverines

Johnson was a four-star recruit who decided to stay in-state to play for the Wolverines. He played well as a freshman with 27 tackles, three interceptions and three passes defended. For the 2023 season, Johnson was one of the best corners in the country with four interceptions and four passes defended.

At 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, Johnson has solid size for the position. He plays aggressively, attacking the catchpoint well. Johnson doesn’t have much ball production, but has decent ball skills. He does grab at times. Overall, he is a good athlete capable of mirroring receivers, which should allow him to be selected early in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

As a four-star prospect out of Arizona, Morrison signed with Notre Dame out of Arizona. In his freshman season, he tallied 33 total tackles, six interceptions and four passes defended. He had another good season in 2023 finishing the season with 31 total tackles, three interceptions and 10 passes defended.

He is a little undersized at 6-foot and 186 pounds. Morrison is a good athlete, capable of mirroring receivers as they run their routes. He also has good ball skills and attacks the catchpoint well. Morrison can be too grabby and can improve his tackling to help his stock.

Travis Hunter, Colorado Buffaloes

Hunter signed with Jackson State out of high school as a five-star recruit. He spent one season there, then followed head coach Deion Sanders to Colorado. For the 2022 season, Hunter played on both sides of the ball, but as a corner tallied 30 tackles, three interceptions and five passes defended.

While he gets a lot of recognition for playing both ways, Hunter will likely be seen as a corner-first prospect. He is an elite athlete, capable of mirroring in man-to-man coverage. In zone coverage, he has good eye balance and can make plays on the ball. His ball skills show off on both sides of the ball. He is a little thin and won’t help against the run much, but he is projected to be the first corner selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Other Draft Prospects to Watch

Cobee Bryant, Kansas Jayhawks- Bryant has made an impact for the Jayhawks over the last few seasons, displaying good ball skills and athleticism.

Tacario Davis, Arizona Wildcats- Davis really burst onto the scene in 2023 with 15 passes defended, displaying his ball skills.

Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State Buckeyes- Igbinosun played one season with Ole Miss before transferring to Ohio State. A big season could see him shoot up draft boards.

Jabbar Muhammad, Oregon Ducks- Muhammad played three seasons at Oklahoma State and one at Washington. This season he will be suiting up for Oregon after notching 16 passes defended in 2023.
