The 2024 NFL Draft is over and teams are getting comfortable with their new draft picks. The next class of players is getting prepared now for another year of college football. Each position will be analyzed in the coming days. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft prospect watchlist: Quarterbacks.

Carson Beck, Georgia Bulldogs

Beck signed with Georgia in the class of 2020 as a four-star recruit out of Florida. He redshirted in his first season on campus, then saw some playing time in 2021 and 2022 as Stetson Bennett’s backup. In 2023, Beck took over the starting job, passing for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions on 72.4 percent completion. His play helped Georgia suffer just one loss on the season, which came in the SEC Championship Game to Alabama.

Although he could’ve entered the 2024 NFL Draft, Beck decided to return to college. He has solid short and intermediate accuracy, although he could put the ball more on the money to allow for more yards after the catch. He can see pressure and handle it well. Beck is not a great athlete and does make a lot of first-read throws. He can also improve his deep ball. With decent arm strength and good accuracy in the short areas of the field, Beck has a lot to build on this season.

Quinn Ewers, Texas Longhorns

Ewers graduated early and signed with Ohio State. After a season there, he transferred to Texas. He was starting as a redshirt freshman in 2022 for the Longhorns. Ewers passed for 2,177 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions on 58.1 percent completion. He was only able to play in 10 games, as he suffered a shoulder injury. In 2023, Ewers led the Longhorns to the CFP with 3,479 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions on 69 percent completion.

It is easy to see why Ewers was such a highly-regarded prospect. He has solid size and great arm talent. Ewers can get some zip on his passes and has a nice deep ball. He’ll need to continue to work on his accuracy, especially in the short and intermediate parts of the field to give his pass-catchers room to run after the catch. Work on his technique and his ability to stay in the pocket during pressure will help. If he plays more consistently this season, Ewers could be the first quarterback off the board in 2025.

Riley Leonard, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Leonard signed with Duke as a four-star prospect out of Alabama in the class of 2021. He played sparingly as a freshman before stepping into the starting role in 2022. Leonard passed for 2,967 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions on 63.8 percent completion. In 2023, he was only able to play in seven games, finishing the year with 1,102 passing yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on 57.6 percent completion. Following the season, Leonard transferred to Notre Dame.

He has a solid build for the NFL and is a good athlete. Leonard has solid arm strength and he is able to evade pressure. Pre-snap he is able to recognize how a defense is lining up and make adjustments. His accuracy can be inconsistent, especially when he targets the deep areas of the field. He can sometimes have a late reaction to pressure and his accuracy takes a huge dip on the run. Leonard can improve his stock with an efficient season at Notre Dame.

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes

Sanders was a three-star prospect in the class of 2021 and signed with Jackson State to play for his father. After finding success at Jackson State, Sanders transferred to Colorado for the 2023 season. He passed for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions on 69.3 percent completion. His play helped Colorado improve from one win to four.

What is impressive about Sanders as a prospect is his football IQ and accuracy. He can make plays out of structure, doing a good job of keeping his eyes downfield in the process. Sanders also protects the football well. While he doesn’t have elite arm strength, his arm is good enough for the NFL. He’ll have to work on going through his progressions this year to help improve his stock.

Other Prospects to Watch

Drew Allar, Penn State Nittany Lions- Allar had a lot of hype surrounding him when he took over at quarterback last season. There were some struggles, specifically in big games, but he has good size and arm strength to build on.

Noah Fifita, Arizona Wildcats- Fifita may be small, but he is fun to watch. He has solid arm strength and can make plays out of structure. There are times when he puts the ball in harm’s way too much, but he had a great season in 2023 at Arizona.

Dillon Gabriel, Oregon Ducks- Gabriel isn’t the biggest quarterback, but he is efficient. He has good accuracy, but what might be more impressive is his ability to sense and avoid pressure. His arm strength and ability to make full-field reads could hold back his draft stock.

Jalen Milroe, Alabama Crimson Tide- Milroe is an elite athlete at the position who can make defenses pay with his rushing ability. He also has a strong arm and can connect on deep balls. His accuracy to short areas of the field and his ability to read defenses needs to improve this season to help his stock.

Cam Ward, Miami Hurricanes- Ward spent time at the FCS level and Washington State. Now he is at Miami, where he can show off his arm talent and athleticism. There has been a lot of manufactured production, so he needs to show he can go through progressions and have better footwork.
