A refueling pitstop on our Mission marathon – joining forces with BYJU’s

Eight years back, we founded Great Learning based on a simple, but strong belief – anyone with the desire to learn and willing to put in the effort should have access to high quality education that can transform their careers and lives. The basis for this belief came from our own experiences – my team and I were among the fortunate ones who studied at India’s and the world’s best educational institutions, which transformed our lives. We strongly felt that one’s career (and life) trajectory should not get decided based on how one performs in a 3-hour entrance examination. Everyone should be able to learn and transform their careers anytime they decide to throughout their careers and have second (and third) chances. We should be able to provide such transformational learning to millions of learners.

We always knew that the problem we are solving is a daunting one and it would be a marathon and not a sprint. We have come a long way on this journey having delivered 60 million hours of impactful learning to over 1.6 million learners from 170 countries. Our progress has been enabled by the relentless efforts of our passionate and dedicated 1500 strong team GL and the expertise and support of our deeply committed network of 3000 expert faculty and mentors (GL Gurus), our stellar set of academic partners in India (IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi, Great Lakes, SRM, SNU, PES, Jain) and from around the world (UT Austin McCombs, Stanford, MIT, Northwestern, NUS, Deakin) and their inspirational faculty members, our 500+ corporate partners, our inspirational brand ambassador, Virat Kohli and the constant support and encouragement of my mentor and guru, Dr. Bala Balachandran. My deepest gratitude to everyone in this Great Learning ecosystem. 

As we gear up for the next phase of our journey, we are super excited to join forces with BYJU’s, the world’s top edtech company and one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential companies in the world. The resources and support from the large and growing BYJU’s ecosystem will provide us the boost to accelerate our impact and make high quality, transformational education accessible to everyone. We will substantially expand our investments in new programs to serve many more professionals and students in India and globally, new technology and AI to further improve the learning experience and outcomes, develop a lot more high quality learning content that is accessible to all, enable many more expert mentors to support our learners and help them power ahead their careers with many more of our corporate partners. 

I would also like to highlight some things that will never change at Great Learning: Our passion for ensuring the best learning and career outcomes for our students, our focus on partnering with the leading academic institutions across the world to amplify their reach and impact and our commitment to our Culture and Core Values – how we realize our Mission is as important as realizing it. Our commitment to everyone who is associated with Great Learning, as a learner, alumnus, faculty, mentor or partner, is that we will always strive for excellence, learn from our mistakes, hold ourselves to high standards and settle for nothing less. 

The entire Great Learning team, including the leadership team, co-founders Hari and Arjun, and I, will continue to grow our business and impact, supported by the visionary edupreneur Byju Raveendran and the BYJU’s ecosystem. Together, we will extend the transformational impact of high-quality education to millions of learners.
