Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for October 4th, 2023. It’s another quiet Wednesday, but we’ve certainly seen quieter. Our pal Mikhail is going to kick things off today, providing us with some tasty news bits to whet your appetite. After that, it’s the new releases! A couple of decent games, one promising-looking one that I can’t vouch for yet, and something for Mr. Bin too. How nice! Sales? We’ve got a few. The usual lists of new and outgoing discounts for you to spend some money on. Let’s get on with it!

News

Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island Releasing in February

Spike Chunsoft revealed a brand-new entry in the excellent Shiren the Wanderer series in the recent Japanese Nintendo Direct, but there was no real information on whether it would see an international release. Today, Spike Chunsoft confirmed that the roguelike RPG Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island, the sixth mainline entry, will launch on February 27th for Nintendo Switch in the West physically and digitally. I’m very excited for this one. -Mikhail Madnani

New Persona 5 Tactica Gameplay Trailer

Atlus just released a new Persona 5 Tactica gameplay trailer today focusing on Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura and Haru Okumura from the upcoming Persona 5 tactical RPG spin-off game. This one releases next month on Nintendo Switch and all other platforms. In a lot of ways, Persona 5 Tactica reminds me of Atlus’ 3DS spin-off Persona games, and I hope it is a good experience on Nintendo Switch when it launches on November 17th.-Mikhail Madnani

New Releases

A Tiny Sticker Tale ($9.99)

This is a short adventure game that basically takes the best part of Paper Mario: Sticker Star and makes a game out of it. Collect stickers from around the various environments and use them to solve puzzles. Not a terribly long game by any means, but I think it’s fine as it is. If you’re looking for something a little chill to play today, this is a good choice.

Dinobreak ($19.99)

Gosh, I really hope this turns out fine. Dinobreak is a survival horror game that swaps out zombies for dinosaurs. Yes, like Dino Crisis. Capcom has let that franchise rest so long that the kids who grew up playing it are now adults who have made their own whole-butt game inspired by it. Presentation-wise it evokes the late 1990s era, and there’s even a bonus mode in here that feels inspired by Dino Crisis 2‘s more action-focused approach. I haven’t had the chance to play this yet, but my fingers are crossed because this concept deserves to live again.

Diorama Dungeoncrawl – Master of the Living Castle ($9.99)

A bit of a janky 3D action-platformer of sorts. You have to make your way through the castle, battling monsters and avoiding traps. The main selling point is the low-poly 3D graphical style, which as the title suggests gives the game a diorama-ish look. It’s definitely awkward to play at first, but once you get used to the weird perspective and movement, it’s not too bad.

The Bin Bunch

Elder Story ($4.99)

Funny story: I bought Bill & Ted’s Excellent Retro Collection yesterday, thinking that since it hadn’t yet gone on sale that it probably never would. Oops! That’s a fiver lost, but you can enjoy the fruits of my bad luck. Of the two included games, the NES one is absolutely terrible, but the Game Boy game is probably worth that five bucks you’ll pay. It’s part of a general Limited Run Games sale, so dig in. Draknek’s puzzlers are also on sale, which is nice. Over in the outbox, the latest 2K Games sale is wrapping up. Do what you have to.

That’s all for today, friends. We’ll be back tomorrow with the usual Thursday business. That means a bunch of new releases, some sales, and probably very little else. I just saw that the online servers for Wii U and 3DS games will be going down next April. I suppose it’s about time, but it’s still a little sad. Oh well. I hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
