Amazon Music Maestro: Enter prompt, get playlist from AI

Amazon Music is set to enhance its service by introducing Maestro, an AI-driven feature that enables users to craft playlists based on textual prompts.

“Today, Amazon Music announces a new feature that uses AI technology to make it easier and way more fun to build playlists you want, when you want. Meet Maestro: An AI playlist generator that helps you create any playlist you can think of—plus all the ones you can’t. This feature is rolling out in beta to a small number of U.S. customers on all tiers of Amazon Music.”

Currently in its beta phase and accessible to a select group of Amazon Music subscribers in the US, Maestro allows for playlist creation from any input, including emojis.

The company shared in a blog post that these playlists, generated by AI, can be saved and shared among Amazon Music users:

“Here are some Maestro prompts we’re loving right now,” Amazon said in the blog post and listed below promts:

• 😭 and eating 🍝
• Make my 👶 a genius
• Myspace era hip-hop
• 🏜️🌵🤠
• Music my grandparents made out to
• 🎤🚿🧼
• I tracked my friends and they’re all hanging out without me

This upcoming feature bears resemblance to Spotify’s AI Playlist, which has recently been introduced to Premium users in the United Kingdom and Australia, allowing them to create playlists using text prompts as well.

Access to Maestro will be exclusive to the Amazon Music app. Those with beta access will find Maestro readily available on their home screen or via a new playlist creation button marked with a plus sign. Users can input their prompts by typing or speaking them out loud, upon which Maestro will compile the playlist accordingly.

For beta testers who subscribe to Prime Music or use the ad-supported free service, they must decide within a 30-second preview whether they appreciate the playlist created by Maestro; if so, they can save it to enjoy in full later. Meanwhile, Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers have the advantage of immediately listening to and saving complete playlists.

Amazon cautions that Maestro may not always perform flawlessly at first, as the technology is still being refined. The company has implemented measures to prevent the use of offensive language and inappropriate content. Feedback will be collected to improve and possibly extend Maestro’s availability.

Update your Amazon Music mobile app to the latest version first.

If you’re part of the beta group, you’ll find Maestro on your home screen, or under the plus sign where you typically start a new playlist. Simply speak or type in your playlist concept. Hit “Let’s go!” to begin streaming your playlist. Once created, you can save it and share it with friends.
