Best tips for the Prince of Persia The Lost Crown Beginner’s Guide

If you read my review of Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, you can imagine how difficult the game can be. Luckily, I’ve had enough time with the 2.5 D platformer to figure out the meta.

To make things easier, I have compiled a beginner’s guide on the best tips for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. So it would be a good idea to read this before starting your adventure on Mount Qaf.

There’s more than meets the eye for the latest installment of The Prince of Persia. On the surface, it looks like a cute game with easygoing mechanics. However, as you dive deeper, things do get overwhelming — which is quite interesting for a fairly linear game. But if you read each tip, you may get past Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s learning curve a little easier to digest. 

Learn the timing

This can be for both combat and platforming. However, it’s way more important for the platforming side of the game. Since the puzzles are a part of the platforming, your timing needs to be dead on. Certain puzzles require good timing, and to make matters worse, platforming plays a huge role in them. For example, you’ll have to jump on a moving ledge that moves when you move. So your jump and climb need to synch up with the ledge’s movements.

Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade

As the game progresses, the enemy types become less forgiving, and the boss battles become more demanding. Heading back to Haven to upgrade your health, amulets, and weapons is something I recommend doing often. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown doesn’t have a leveling system, but you’ll notice a steady uptick in difficulty as you progress. By upgrading Sargon, you’ll get better buffs and make the power of your amulets more potent.

However, upgrading can make boss fights a breeze — relatively speaking. The first three bosses I went up against made my life miserable. But then I’d change my amulets and at a Wak Wak Tree or go to Haven and upgrade my kit. Once I changed my loadout, those boss fights got easier. So make sure you keep upgrading and alternating your gear throughout the game.

Chase the Golden Leaves

These leaves are important because they will lead you to a Wak Wak Tree. The trees are important. Here you can change your amulets, and swap your Athra Surges abilities, and they act as a respawn point. So when you start seeing golden leaves, start following them till you reach the tree. Additionally, it’s worth locating these Wak Wak Trees, as many of them have fast travel points nearby. 

Overuse the Memory Shards

The Memory Shards are quickly becoming my favorite feature in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. You’ll be doing A LOT of backtracking in the game, and all is worthwhile. As you go through an area for the first time, you’ll notice something that you can’t reach — an item, a puzzle, etc. By placing a Memory Shard at that spot, you can come back later with new powers that can help you reach an area you couldn’t before.

However, there’s a limited amount you can place. Don’t worry though, you can delete the Shards, and you’ll gain them back into your inventory. On top of that, you can find or buy upgrades to hold more Memory Shards. If you want to collect all the achievements or trophies in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, this is the best way to do it. 

Find Fariba

She’s a helpful NPC who will aid you throughout your journey. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is straightforward, and the main story missions are detailed well, so you can’t miss them. However, while the game does tell you where your objective is, it doesn’t tell you how to get there. This is where Farbia comes in. She’ll give you not-so-subtle tips that will be highlighted in yellow. Note that it will cost you 50 Time Crystals. 

Additionally, if you’re in a new area and find her in that area, she’ll open up your map so the fog of war is all gone in that section. You’ll have to pay her 30 Time Crystals to get her to open up the level you’re on. She’ll always have something for you when you see her.
