Evil Geniuses have turned a new page following changes to their coaching staff and starting lineup with the additions of Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg, Sanzhar “neaLaN” Iskhakov, and Jadan “HexT” Postma.

The North American squad has only looked better and better since their changes, and in Stockholm they showed a glimpse of their potential after going 3-0 at the IEM Road to Rio 2022 Americas RMR.

Brehze explained why he feels comfortable playing Liquid

Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte joined us for a very quick chat after Evil Geniuses‘ 2-1 victory over 9z in their qualification match. The 24-year-old rifler touched on HexT‘s fantastic performance in the series, the upcoming match against Liquid, and their overall development since the roster changes.

Congratulations Brehze, you are 3-0 and you are going to the Major after missing out on the last one, what’s going through your mind right now?

We worked really hard for this. It’s a new team and I am just happy that we are able to attend another Major.

HexT was fantastic throughout the whole series so tell me, how is he getting on? How is he integrating in the squad? And what do you think of him right now?

Yeah, Jadan [HexT] is a pretty integral part of our team. He’s everything you expect from a young player: he has high energy, really nice aim, and keeps the mood high and when he’s fragging like that he makes us unstoppable.

You are facing Liquid in the next match for the Legends spot at the Major, how confident are you feeling?

It’s another NA matchup and they are on a pretty good run right now, but for myself, I have always been comfortable facing them. We’re both in our zone right now, so I think It will be a good match.

Is it a stylistic thing with Liquid or you are just used to playing against them?

Yeah, you play these players over the years and you know them and you talk to them all the time. It will be a fun game, they are the top dogs of the region so we’re trying to go for that spot.

Talking about you specifically, your individual form was not at its highest possible level for the last three or four months, but over the last one it has been trending upwards. What do you think prompted this improvement in form?

I think it’s just comfortability in the way we want to play, we have an identity right now. I think in the past year and earlier this year too with the lineup, we did not find our groove. I think we are progressing really fast, we have our own style that we are figuring out right now and it’s working so that’s what I am attributing to my play.

Any expectations for the Major?

I mean, we are going to take it one game at a time, but obviously we are happy to make it and we’re going to play every game to win.
