Chevrolet Celebrates Camaro with Collector’s Edition – The Detroit Bureau

The Camaro isn’t going to be around for much longer, but if you’re a fan of the muscle car, Chevrolet’s got something exciting for you — well 350 of you anyway — the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition.

The company confirmed a few weeks ago that the final run of the Camaro — at least in its current form — comes with the 2024 model year. So this Collector’s Edition is a chance for real mavens of the model to enjoy some nostalgia while getting a pretty impressive machine.

The 650 horsepower LT4-powered ZL1 Collector’s Edition takes on the Panther code name associated with the development of the original muscle car in 1967. It will feature a Panther Black Matte exterior color, serialized steering wheel badge and more.

“We found it fitting for this Collector’s Edition Camaro to officially recognize the significance of the original code name and share it with Camaro enthusiasts,” said Rich Scheer, design director, Chevrolet Performance. “Of course, the name ‘Panther’ influenced the colors used, Panther Black Metallic for SS and Panther Matte Black for ZL1.”  

Whaddya get?

If you pony up the big bucks for a Camaro Collector’s Edition you’ll get a welcome kit which contains two posters commemorating the Camaro generations and the Collector’s Edition. Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition owners will also receive a bespoke Canfield Sport 45 millimeter watch from another iconic Detroit manufacturer, Shinola.

“Shinola is proud to share a legacy for quality, craftsmanship and performance with the Camaro nameplate, and we cherish the Detroit heritage that both Shinola and Chevrolet have,” Shinola CEO Awenate Cobbina said.

The Collector’s Edition is available on the LT/RS, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims in North America. This package equips LT/RS, LT1 and SS trims with a new Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat exterior color, 20-inch Satin Black or optional Polished Forged Wheels and more, says Chevy officials.

If you want to add the package to the 1LT, it’ll cost an extra $4,995 bringing the total to $39,440, including the $1,950 RS package. That number rises steadily as you rise up the packages until you get to the ZL1, where it adds $14,995 for a final price of $88,690. The company is quick to remind: it doesn’t include the gas guzzler tax.

Going out in style

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro will be available in coupe and convertible on LT, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims, with 1LE remaining an available option on SS and ZL1. Power for 2024 Camaro builds will come from the 3.6-liter V-6, 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 and the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8. New exterior colors Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow can be selected across all trims.

Chevrolet dealers will begin accepting orders for the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro on June 15, with a starting MSRP of $32,495 for the LT coupe and $38,495 for the LT convertible.

The Camaro isn’t expected to be gone for long. While the sixth-generation model is going away, Chevy effectively confirmed a successor will follow. And with GM on what CEO Mary Barra has repeatedly described as a “path to an all-electric future,” that appears to be the direction the bow-tie brand will take with a replacement, TheDetroitBureau.com has learned.

“While we are not announcing an immediate successor today, rest assured, this is not the end of Camaro’s story,” Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell said.
