Complete information about the upcoming cs_summit 8 has not been announced yet, but dates have already been published by the organizers. The tournament will witness a combination of both direct invites and teams that make their way through the 2 open qualifiers, scheduled to take place on 1-2 May and 8-9 May, respectively.

The total number of teams participating in the tournament is also unclear at this point in time, but decision on this will probably be taken once the organizer has confirmed which CS:GO teams plan on competing via North America. As teams have an option to choose which region they will be competing from in the upcoming RMR 2021 events, the 2020 Legends and Challengers teams from North America like FURIA, Team Liquid, EXTREMUM, and Evil Geniuses, would be required to make a decision regarding this soon.

As of now, taking into consideration the points earned from RMR 2020, all possible deductions which include those due to any lineup changes after the last season and the compulsory partial reset enforced by Valve, the current RMR standing for the North American region is as follows,

  • EG – 480 points
  • FURIA – 480 points
  • EXTREMUM – 480 points
  • Liquid – 240 points

The upcoming cs_summit 8 is the first stepping stone for North American CS:GO teams to qualify for PGL Major Stockholm 2021, scheduled to take place from 23 Oct to 7 Nov. The first CS:GO Major since StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 will feature a massive $2 million prize pool, as Valve plans on hosting at least 2 more RMR tournaments before the grand LAN tournament.
