COVID caused a lot of workplaces to change their policies and procedures around work-from-home, developer DONTNOD is no exception. The French, independent developer, best known for Life is Strange and Vampyr, is introducing a work-from-home option for all employees. According to DONTNOD, this is a change they are implementing in hopes of “bettering work-life balance” as well as “providing more flexibility” in their work organization.

Developer DONTNOD’s work-from-home system is called FROG, which stands for Fully Remote Organization scheme. Every employee chooses between remote mode or office mode. Both modes have flexibility regarding occasionally working in the office or at home. Employees in the Paris and Montreal offices both have access to this flexible work option.

DONTNOD implemented this system to encourage connection between employees, while also remaining safe. Beyond that, this flexible telecommute means they can expand recruiting methods to all of France and Quebec. Also of note is that DONTNOD held a referendum in October 2020 to gather feedback on the new system. 87% of employees favored the system.

During COVID, it was great to see studios being serious about the virus. And, it’s great to see studios being flexible and adapting their workplaces to accommodating an ever-changing workforce.
