No interesting sales moves happen at the top of the chart this week, which just had EA Sports FC 24 and Hogwarts Legacy trade places, again, as the latest EA football title regained first place. Thanks to winter sales, bringing about a 42% jump in sales, primarily on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, was enough to reclaim the top spot.

Mortal Kombat 1 re-entered the top chart thanks to a discount price promotion on PlayStation 5. One spot below at No. 4 is the previous franchise entry, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, which dropped 27% in sales but still held onto the same spot as last week.

Rounding out the top half of the chart is Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the Nintendo Switch exclusive dropped two spots following a 36% decrease in sales.

The rest of the top ten is virtually unchanged from last week, with stalwarts like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Grand Theft Auto 5 holding on, but No. 10 is a bit of a surprise. The last spot in the chart is filled by It Takes Two, skyrocketing from No. 21 to No. 10 with a 52% increase thanks to a PlayStation 4 sale.

Other titles making huge moves include Mass Effect: Legendary Edition at No. 21, Red Dead Redemption 2 at No. 22, and a little farther down the chart, the original Red Dead Redemption also placed. The Sims 4: Horse Ranch, an expansion for the long-running EA title, had a huge gain this week with a 113% increase in sales.

Oddly, FIFA 22 also re-entered the lower rungs of the chart, with the final EA football title officially licensed by FIFA showing historic staying power. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and Jurassic World: Evolution 2 also made huge moves into the chart this week after weeks of being unranked.

Below are the best-selling boxed video games in the UK for the week ending January 13, 2024.
