Eseye and Armis launch solution to secure devices on cellular networks

Global IoT connectivity services provider Eseye has partnered with device security platform Armis to launch a solution for securing devices on cellular networks.

The partners first announced their Connectivity Management Platform in April 2021—boasting the ability for organisations to deploy connected devices anywhere in the world with enterprise-class security and consistent, reliable cellular (4G/LTE/5G) connectivity.

Devices benefit from being able to seamlessly connect to any of the over 700 GSMA-compliant global carriers that Eseye has deals with. Armis brings its Agentless Device Security Platform to the table, providing device discovery, monitoring, behavioural risk assessments, and automatic response to anomalies that put devices at risk.

“Together, the Armis and Eseye technologies create an industry-first synergy, delivering a secure and connected ecosystem for mobile devices across industries,” said Peter Doggart, Vice President of Business Development at Armis, last year.

“As the supply chain continues to expand, this partnership lays the ultimate foundation for automation and digital transformation.”

The partners announced the general availability of the solution this week.

“Most traditional endpoint security products available today require agents which cannot install on the majority of cellular-based IoT and OT devices. These devices control the temperature of food and medicine storage, update maintenance information on aeroplanes, or control critical infrastructures like power and water transmission, and they are exposed with grave risk of cyber threats,” commented Doggart on this week’s announcement.

“The footprint of these devices is expected to expand rapidly over the coming years, making the joint solution from Armis and Eseye the ultimate foundation for automation and digital transformation.”

In our coverage of Eseye’s 2021 State of IoT Adoption report, the greatest percentage of survey respondents said that cellular connectivity was their biggest hurdle to deployments.

Transforma Insights predicts there will be 4 billion LPWA connections in 2030 – up from 330 million at the end of 2020 – with almost two-thirds accounted for by cellular technologies including NB-IoT and LTE-M that operate in licensed spectrum.

That means the IoT attack service is growing exponentially and making devices even more of a target. Solutions like the one launched this week by Eseye and Armis could prove key to protecting your IoT deployments.
