ESL Open #207: herO, MaxPax, Dark win

The Christmas Day edition of the ESL Open Cups saw participation drop moderately, with notable regulars such as Clem, ByuN, and Cure bowing out. As one might expect under such circumstances, the remaining top players in herO, MaxPax, and Dark were the victors of the week.

The Korean server cup went to herO, who defeated Firefly, GuMiho, and Dark in the last three rounds. In a rarity for the Korean server, herO achieved his victory with a perfect map record. German Protoss ShoWTimE made a surprise cross-server appearance, who made it to the top four before being eliminated by Dark.

Without Clem in attendance, the European server cup was predictably won by MaxPax, who swept HeroMarine in the finals. The EU Cup also featured a non-regional player making it to the top four, with China’s Firefly making a run before being stopped by MaxPax.

Finally, Dark won the American server cup to close out the week, going on an all-ZvP run that ended with a 3-2 over herO in the finals.

In the non-ESL Cups, herO won KSL #39 (played on the 23rd) with a 3-0 sweep over NightMare in the finals.
