Esports Stadium Arlington to Host GameUp 5-0 May 15

Arlington, Texas-based esports venue Esports Stadium Arlington (ESA) will host a community outreach event on May 15 in conjunction with the Arlington Police Department and Arlington Independent School District called GameUp 5-0. The event will pit 100 ISD students against 50 Arlington police officers in competitions. Arlington Chief of Police, Chief Alexander Jones and AISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos will also be in attendance to challenge students in various games.

The event is an effort by the police department is meant to “strengthen relationships with our youth and our community through Esports,” according to ESA.   

Games being played include Super Smash Bros., Madden NFL 21, League of Legends, and Fortnite. Winners will recieve prizes from ESA including one-month passes to the gaming center (8 passes) and other prizes to be announced.

Sponsors and/or supporters of the event include the African American Peace Officers Association Of Arlington, Mid City McAndrew Motors, Amigos En Azul (Hispanic Police Officers Associated De Arlington), the Arlington Municipal Patrolman’s Association, Sirviendo Unidos Alumni Association (Arlington Hispanic Citizen Police Academy), the Arlington Police Association, the Arlington Citizen Police Academy Association, gaming charity Extra Life, and Cook Children’s.
