Ethereum Classic developers announced a major upgrade in July. This upgrade will help save users on gas fees.

According to ETC blockchain developers, they are undergoing work in preparation for the Magneto network upgrade. On, Monday, the team announced a hard fork to implement the project’s latest version. More so, the launch will be in late July.

Further, the team said that Magneto will be inclusive of the Ethereum Berlin upgrade features. Moreover, after a Zoom call, the team decided to move the Magneto proposal described in ECIP-1103 tolast-call status.

In addition, the proposal is to improve the network’s security while saving on gas costs. Also, by saving addresses and keys in one spot for users to access with a transaction.

To address the ETC community, Stevan Lohja, developer relations manager for Ethereum Classic said,

“To ensure a successful fork, we ask ETC consumers to upgrade their node software to a Magneto compatible version if they have not done so already. If you’re not operating nodes or services, but use ETC through other services, then check with that service to ensure they’re supporting the Magneto hard fork,” added Stevan.

Of note, Beta testing on ETC’s Morder and Kotti testnets started on June 2 and June 9, respectively. So, the Magneto fork will officially happen once these tests are done.
