Back in 2022 Way of the Hunter slowly crept out of the bushes and onto the scene, looking to take potshots at the genre leader; theHunter: Call of the Wild. It missed, but there were definitely signs that those shots would allow it to get closer with every step. Today those steps continue with the launch of Way of the Hunter’s Matariki Park DLC.

Available today across all formats in which you’ll find the Way of the Hunter base game – Xbox, PlayStation, PC – is the latest expansion for the game. And it’s the magic of New Zealand which awaits in Matariki Park. As well as a host of waterfalls and tranquil beaches.

Priced at € 9.99 / $ 9.99 / £ 7.99 / AU$ 13.95 / ¥ 1320, Matariki Park is a paradise for nature enthusiasts and hunters alike. It’s here where you’ll be found traversing hilly, mountainous terrain, the home to the unique Himalayan tahr and the mighty Sambar deer. Further, you’ll get the chance to venture into the lowland forest areas, the domain of the majestic Red deer.

Throughout Way of the Hunter’s Matariki Park, you’ll be able to encounter lifelike wildlife in one of the earth’s wildest natural settings. Expect to find Sika deer, wild ducks, feral pigs, goats and more. As well as a mobile tripod to help with your shooting skills.

Whilst not present in the Way of the Hunter Season Pass, you can get access to Matariki Park by heading to the digital store of your liking. The Xbox Store will sort you out with the Matariki Park DLC for instance. You’ll need the base game in order to utilise it.

You’ll also find the new Matariki Park expansion present in the Way of the Hunter Map Pack 2. That is priced at £16.24 and combines Matariki Park with another new expansion, due in Summer 2024. Further, Map Pack 2 adds an Outfits Pack too.
