Former fourth overall selection and Dallas Cowboy running back Ezekiel Elliott finally has a new home. Elliott is expected to sign a one-year contract with the New England Patriots worth up to $6 million for the upcoming season.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.

As stated above, the Dallas Cowboys originally selected Elliott fourth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played there for seven years before finally being released at the conclusion of Dallas’ 2022-2023 season. It was primarily a casualty of the salary cap.

Elliott played in 15 games in 2022-2023, but started in only 14 of them. Last season, he rushed 231 times for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added almost 100 more yards through the air, too. This touchdown total was his highest since 2019.
