Filament STAC, Scotland’s first IoT accelerator programme, has received backing from a number of major tech firms in the US.
Amongst the brands pledging their support is Silicon Valley’s Intel, Twilio, Plexus Corp, and Fortune 500 company Arrow Electronics.
The Smart Things Accelerator Centre is a non-profit industry and government partnership aimed at creating globally competitive and scalable Scottish IoT companies.
Launched in August this year, the Glasgow-based programme has a three year target to create more than 25 IoT companies supporting 750 jobs. It also aims to reach £750 million in revenue and raise over £100 million investment in the same period.
Paul Wilson, CEO of Filament STAC, said: “It is a testament not only to our own ambitions for STAC, but more importantly for tech groups of the stature of Twilio, Plexus Corp, Intel, Keysight and Arrow to believe in our mission and get behind the plan to build globally competitive IoT companies from a base in Scotland.
“Having Twilio as a Filament STAC partner will support our cohort to develop industry-leading products. Twilio provides platforms and services to build innovative IoT solutions, connecting them to reliable cellular networks, ensuring our STAC companies connect creatively and reliably to their devices and customers.”
Filament STAC is also supported by government agency Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s Innovation Centre for sensing, imaging and IoT technologies (CENSIS), and product design firm Filament.
Some of the first companies amongst the centre’s cohort include Nebu-Flow, Lupovis, Gibson Robotics, Toto Sleep, Lynkeos, Radisoft, WashR, Jirasoft, BGR, 5G3i, Fyne Labs and Soltropy.
