Combining dystopian science fiction and retro-futuristic western is ExeKiller, an Unreal Engine 5 powered action adventure. And the first ever gameplay trailer is now here.

From Paradark Studio, ExeKiller is a studio-debut title, due to launch on PC and new-gen consoles (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5). It really does look very smart.

We know that as the first gameplay trailer for ExeKiller has now been unveiled, featuring a compact mix of western-style combat, exploring a detailed location, and driving a car. At the same time the trailer presents the true power of Unreal Engine 5 and its individual technologies such as Lumen, Nanite, Virtual Shadows Maps and MetaSounds. You’ve got lots of techy-talk in there, but all we know is that it looks great.

But what is ExeKiller? Well, it runs as a first-person action-adventure game with a whole load of multi-choice story elements built in. The game’s plot is set in a dystopian alternate reality world, in which a decimated humanity struggles to cope with the effects of a massive catastrophe that destroyed the Earth, turning it into a scorched desert.

It’s here where the player takes on the role of Denzel Fenix, the eponymous exekiller – a bounty hunter in the service of Helion, the ubiquitous corporation headquartered in a massive structure towering over the ruins of New York.

Over the course of the game, Denzel discovers the truth about himself, and this revelation puts him in the sights of several powerful factions. From this point, a dangerous and difficult game of survival begins. And it is only up to the player to decide how Exekiller plays out this battle.

Expect ExeKiller to provide a huge semi-open environment for you to traverse, all running round a central hub with small locales spearing off of that. With choice at the centre of everything, you can be sure that you’ll never be limited as to how you tackle ExeKiller, with multiple paths and solutions constantly opening up. As you’d expect, the decisions you make will also affect the world around you – the attitude of NPCs, dialogues and endings.

We’ll keep you covered with more ExeKiller news aas it drops, but for now you’d do well to check out the trailer. It’s due to come to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC – wishlist it on Steam if you like.
