A new weapon type and PVP multiplayer keep the nostalgic arcade game feeling fresh.

After over a year in Early Access, Fruit Ninja VR 2 has officially launched on PC VR headsets via Steam as well as Meta Quest headsets, offering players a whole new lineup of immersive fruit-slicing challenges to enjoy.

Fruit Ninja VR 2 features the same game modes you know and love from the original 2010 classic, Fruit Ninja VR, including Arcade, Classic, and Zen. You can slice fruit to the beat of a thumping soundtrack or see how quick your sword skills really are in a game mode called Whack-A-Fruit. There’s also a new bow-and-arrow weapon that allows you to rack up combos from a distance.

If you find yourself feeling lonely, the game features a new multiplayer social hub where you can meet up with other fruit ninjas and compete for glory in the arena.

As part of its official launch, developer Halfbrick Studios is raising the price of the game from $20 to $25. Fruit Ninja VR 2 is available today on Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets. At the time of this writing, the game is still labeled as “Early Access” on its official Steam page, so you’ll need to move quickly if you want to save yourself that additional $5.

Moving forward, Halfbrick Studios plans on introducing additional content, including a new game mode and weapon type that will be released “after our launch on the Quest store and departure from Early Access,” according to the developer.

All-in-all, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Fruit Ninja VR 2 throughout its time in Early Access. VR motion controls pair beautifully with the fruit-slicing gameplay and the introduction of a long-range bow-and-arrow adds a whole new layer to the experience. I also love the addition of social multiplayer; let’s just hope the lobbies don’t fill up with screaming 11-year-olds immediately.
