Guyanese police destroy large marijuana plantation – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

The Guyanese police and defence forces have made a dent in the illegal drug trade as they have destroyed a large marijuana plantation in the Upper Berbice River region.

According to a police statement, the lawmen received information about a marijuana plantation and went to the Upper Berbice River in search of the illegal drugs.

Police said they discovered and destroyed 30 pounds of Cannabis seeds and approximately 58,000 Cannabis Sativa trees that were planted on 10 acres of land.

Two make-shift camps and a number of farming tools were also destroyed.

Police said the drugs had an estimated street value of GYD$1,247,388,320 (US$5.9million).
