SY23 Annual Report: Spotlight on Writing

During the final year of our 3-year partnership with Bernon Heights Elementary School in Woonsocket, RI, our partnership focused on building student persistence for challenging work and strengthening student feedback protocols within the context of writing.

With the benefit of strong relationships and consistent leadership and staff over the past three years, our whole school focus on writing had a strong foundation for success. In addition to collecting rubric data on writing across grades, we also ran student focus groups twice a year to hear how the work was landing with students and what improvements could be made.

In SY23, teachers who shifted their instruction after each coaching session with our team showed a higher percentage of students meeting benchmarks on writing rubrics.
