A historic Goolwa property built by eminent South Australian politician William Younghusband in 1854 has been transformed into commercial accommodation and is ready for a new owner to write the next chapter of its story.

The home at 17 Admiral Tce, which has hit the market, has been in vendor Jamie Bishop’s family for three generations.

He and his wife Trudy took ownership of the property in 2015 with the view of taking it to the next level.

“We ran it as a hosted group retreat – we had caterers, cleaners, and tour guides taking guests canoeing down the Coorong, so it was really a case of arrive, be inspired and indulge,” Mr Bishop says.

“We would even get the local masseuse in to provide full-body treatments.

“It worked wonderfully.”

The couple have renovated and redesigned the original eight room cottage into a seven-bedroom, seven bathroom indulgent escape, complete with a swimming pool and a versatile outbuilding.
