Helping your friends out and saving items is one of the best things to do in any ARPG. This way, both of you are appropriately armed and understand each other’s builds. To do this, you can either trade or gift them something. Trading is a little more straightforward.

However, gifting is a whole other beast because you need Resonace to give a gift. Below, I’ll go over how Resonance in Last Epoch works and how to get it. So it could be important.

Last Epoch: How does Resonance work?

When you gift something to a player, you don’t need gold or favors, just Resonance. The easy part is that they will drop from downed enemies. However, if you play solo and don’t find any Resonance it’s because of the mode you’re on. To get Resonance to appear, you must be playing in a party with at least one other player for a certain amount of time.

The next bit of information is important because what you send over to your friend will depend on the type of Resosance you’re using. In Last Epoch there are two: Golden Resosance and Obsidian Resonance. Both are acquired the same which is looting fallen enemies. However, Obsidian Resonance is rarer.

Check out the bullet points below to get a clear idea of what the differences are.

  • Golden Resonance: More common and gives you the chance to gift Normal, Magic, Rare, or Unique items. You should have no problem finding Golden Resonance.
  • Obesidan Resonance: Much harder to find and requires a decent amount of grinding. However, you can gift Exalted or Legendary items with it.

When you’re about to gift a friend a weapon or gear, make sure to identify its rarity since that plays a role in what you can send over.

How to gift items

Upon opening your Inventory panel by pressing “I,” look for the Gift button under your character’s loadout. If you’re playing in a party the box below your Gift Inventory will enable to you drag an item over and place it. My image below is just a reference since I was playing solo. But when you have an item in the slot, you’ll be asked to use Resonance. So by checking the what type of Resoance you have if the rarity matches, you can send the gift that way. Once your friend logs on, they will have received it.

Note, that when you gift something and it has a faction tag, the person you’re gifting to needs to be in the same faction as the tag. They’ll also need to meet the level requirements to equip it. Double-check check these prerequisites are met before sending something.
