Grounded’s biggest update, Shroom and Doom, brings many new features to the multiplayer game such as new crafting materials (i.e: Mushrooms) and items for structures. The update has also reworked and reintroduced the Broodmother boss which was shortly removed after the game launched as the boss did not meet the developer’s expectations, but perhaps the biggest and the most interesting feature in this update is the addition of pets. Players can now tame Aphids and Weevils as pets and customize them accordingly.
How to tame Weevil pets in Grounded?
Found in The Grasslands, these tiny, black insects are passive towards the player and make great pets. To tame a Weevil, you’ll need a Mushroom Slurry and a Grinder.
You’ll need 2x Crow Feather Piece, 2x Acorn Shells, 3x Flower Petals, and 5x Bombardier Parts to craft a Grinder which is used to make slurries from various ingredients.
To make Mushroom Slurry, you’ll need either a Mushroom, Mushroom Chunks (obtained using a tier 2 axe), or Toadstool Chunks, adding a Mushroom Chunk to the Grinder will grant you 8 slurries. You can also farm Mushrooms faster by using a Garden Patch and Spoiled Meat.
If you spot hostile Worker Ants or Lawn Mites in an area, it means that a Weevil is nearby. Drop a Mushroom Slurry near the Weevil that you wish to tame and wait for it to consume it, do this once more and you should be able to ‘pet’ the Weevil, this means that you’ve successfully tamed it.
How to tame Aphid pets in Grounded?
Aphids are tiny, green creatures that are commonly found in multiple biomes, and as a result, you’ll encounter them quite frequently in comparison to Weevils. You’ll need to feed them Plant Slurry twice to tame them, Plant Slurries are made using 1x Plant Fiber, one of the most common materials in the game, insert a Plant Fiber into the Grinder to obtain a Plant Slurry.
If you’re having trouble finding an Aphid, listen for its squeaks or look for hostile Ladybugs and Lawn Mites in the area as they generally hunt Aphids.
How to craft and use Pet House in Grounded?
Pet House is an essential utility item if you want to keep your tamed pet, you can also rename them, view their stats, and equip Goggles or Helmets on your pet using a Pet House.
To craft a Pet House you need: 2x Weed Stem 1x Acorn Shell 4x Mushroom Brick 2x Crow Feather Piece. After taming a pet, you’ll have the option to ‘deposit’ it and your pet will be sent to a Pet House where you can interact with it and view its various stats, happiness levels, personality. You can only keep one Pet in a Pet House.
