Isuzu expected to launch electric D-Max in UK next year

Isuzu has shared new details of its all-electric D-Max and is expected to launch a production version of the new pick-up in the UK next year.

The brand will start sales in the mature EV market of Norway first, but said it will then expand to other markets following that.

There’s only one electric pick-up truck currently on sale in the UK, the Maxus T90 EV, which has two-wheel-drive. Ford is planning to launch plug-in hybrid version of the Ranger later this year.

lan Able, managing director of Isuzu UK, said: “The Isuzu D-Max BEV represents a new era for pick-up trucks, combining the legendary toughness of the D-Max with electric technology.

“We are proud to work with a manufacturer committed to creating a carbon-neutral future and announce this innovative vehicle to the UK market, providing our customers with an environmentally friendly option without compromising on performance or reliability.”

The D-Max BEV has a maximum power output of 176PS and 325Nm, from its two electric motors. Power is supplied from a 66.9kWh battery.

Isuzu has not published a range figure for the D-Max BEV, but it has claimed a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.

The D-Max BEV will make its public debut at the Bangkok Motor Show on March 27.
