Jack Cambell Strengths

Campbell has the prototypical size of an NFL linebacker. He is 6-foot-5 and 243 pounds, making him one of the bigger linebackers in the league. With his size comes great strength, which he uses when going up against offensive linemen. He also has good length to help him disengage from blocks.

His awareness and play diagnosis is among the best in the class. Campbell has fast eyes and can usually tell where a play is going. He doesn’t normally get fooled by play-action passes or trick plays, as he reads his keys well. His ability to know what is coming puts him a step ahead of other linebackers.

Right now, Campbell is good at stopping the run. He can read where the play is going quickly. After that, he has the strength and length to shed blocks. He has a good motor to pursue ball carriers. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a sure tackler who ends the play efficiently.

Jack Campbell Weaknesses

His athleticism isn’t great for the position. He doesn’t have great range, which limits him against the pass and against the run. The range isn’t great, but his acceleration and lateral mobility are also lacking. He’s effective, but there won’t be much flashiness to his game.

While he is decent in zone coverage, he is not a great candidate to cover man-to-man in the NFL. His athleticism won’t allow him to mirror route-runners and offenses can take advantage of that. Teams drafting him will need to plan to use him in zone against the pass and in a very limited man-to-man capacity.

He can shed well because of his strength and length, but his fundamentals could be better. Campbell can strike with better timing and placement to help shed blocks even better. It will be imperative for him to shed blocks as quick as possible, as he doesn’t have the greatest range.

Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick

Draft Grade: Second-Round Pick
