One of the most interesting mechanics is now in Wild Rift – Nemesis Duel! When this system first dropped into League of Legends, Rengar and Kha’Zix players would call out they wanted to duel, and would go somewhere to settle the score when the requirements were met. It was only a matter of time before Nemesis Duel came to Wild Rift, and that time appears to be now! Thanks to Kha’Zix taking one of Rengar’s eyes, the two are locked in mortal combat. How does this go down and what’s the point?

Eternal Foes: Rengar and Kha’Zix

Starting today, Wild Rift introduces the Nemesis Duel feature. It requires one team to have Kha’Zix and Rengar on the other. It isn’t just for a kill/death, either. A genuine, game-changing buff goes to the winner of the duel. Well, it can be game-changing. Riot Games have not revealed the official requirements to trigger the Nemesis Duel though. This is to make sure it’s not a routine, but a fun occurrence when it happens.

Both Rengar and Kha’Zix have to be high-level (so we’re assuming 15+). Neither of them has taken or dealt damage for a short time, is the next part. The two have to at least be a short distance apart. When it’s time for the Hunt to begin, a notification will pop up on the participating players’ screens. Whoever wins is the one that deals damage to the other within three seconds of the defeated champions’ death. You don’t have to secure the final blow; just take part.

This means you don’t have to go alone! Right now, only two people can participate in Wild Rift’s Nemesis Duel: Rengar and Kha’Zix. If Rengar wins, he automatically gains Ferocity during his ultimate (Thrill of the Hunt). Should Kha’Zix win, he unlocks an extra Evolution Point, proving he’s the Apex Predator. Now, here’s the most interesting part of this.

Riot Games is pretty vague in the announcement post, but they point out that currently, only Rengar and Kha’Zix can engage in these Nemesis Duels. They follow up with:

“As for what other champions may one day take their rivalry to Wild Rift, you’ll just have to wait for the sands of time to reveal the answer!”

There are plenty of rivalries in League of Legends and Wild Rift. Here are a few possibilities we’d like to see:

  • Twisted Fate vs. Graves
  • Sejuani vs. Ashe
  • Kayle vs. Morgana
  • Malzahar vs. Kassadin

Or of course, Teemo vs. Everybody. This vague sort of teaser could mean there are more Nemesis Duels coming, or it could mean absolutely nothing. We just like the possibility of seeing more options for this unique exchange in the future.
