One of LEC’s biggest names, Schalke 04 Esports, is selling its spot to Team BDS.
The rumors came true today, as Schalke 04 confirmed they will be selling their LEC spot to Team BDS. Schalke 04 was one of the biggest names in European League of Legends and viewers popularly knew them for their miracle run narratives. They made a statement by defeating G2 Esports in LEC Summer Split and recently brought in young Ilias “NUCLEARINT” Bizriken to fill the mid-lane role.

Alas, they can’t continue in the LEC and their legacy shall be taken by Team BDS, who is known for competing in the LFL and doing very well. Schalke 04 Esports has their player contracts until the end of the season. After that, the players will enter the free agency period in November to join BDS or another team. The synergy between the S04 players is very good at the moment. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the players decide to stick together, with BDS or under another banner.
The future of the Schalke 04 Prime League team and its players is yet to be determined. But rest assured, Team BDS will keep its LFL team and continue to compete in the French league as well. Meanwhile, S04 will continue playing in the LEC for the remainder of the 2021 Summer Split.
BDS will be looking to shake things up in the LEC and it will be very interesting to see if more young blood can topple the giants in the European League of Legends scene.
