Users of the free Loop smart meter app can reduce their electricity use by up to 16% and gas by 10%, offering Emirates GBR and their supporters an easy way to improve their energy efficiency and measure their impact on the environment via a dedicated fan page

The Emirates Great Britain SailGP team, led by the world’s most successful Olympic sailors Sir Ben Ainslie and Hannah Mills OBE, along with Low Carbon are inviting the team’s supporters to recognise World Earth Day by joining them in reducing the amount of energy they consume by downloading the free Loop app.

Loop is an innovative smart meter app developed by Trust Power, a Low Carbon company, that helps consumers to become more energy efficient. Whilst the aim of Low Carbon is to generate as much large-scale renewable power as possible, Loop helps to reduce the amount of energy people use. Together both support the ultimate goal of reducing carbon emissions.

Available and free to any UK household with a smart meter, Loop analyses energy data and shows a range of insights, personalised analytics and behavioural nudges to help users improve their energy efficiency.

On average, Loop users save 16% on their electricity bill and 10% on their gas, meaning a carbon saving of 310 kg CO2e and a bill reduction of around £300 per year for an average dual fuel household. In partnership with the SailGP team, a dedicated Loop download page has been set-up which will help to track the combined impact of reduced energy use and carbon savings the team and its supporters can jointly achieve on World Earth Day and beyond.

The use of the Loop app by the Emirates GBR is part of a long-term partnership with Low Carbon that reinforces the scale of their shared sustainability ambitions and using sport as a platform to inspire others to take action to tackle climate change.
