Work has begun at LSH Auto’s Tamworth site to transform the iconic Mercedes-Benz showroom.

Having first opened its doors in 1966, Mercedes-Benz Tamworth is located on the corner of Sutton Rd, Mile Oak.

Extensive redevelopment will incorporate two new showrooms, one for Mercedes-Benz and one for BYD and an upgraded 11 ramp workshop including six EV ramps, vehicle charging and new valet bays, enabling LSH Auto Tamworth to become an EV site for all service, warranty and repair work.

Vaughan Blackman, managing director LSH Auto, said: “We’re really pleased to be investing in our Tamworth facilities, it has long standing history as a Mercedes-Benz showroom and a very loyal customer base. The new showrooms will reflect our high standards and commitment to our customers.”

“BYD is the latest brand to join LSH Auto UK. It is a multinational high-tech company devoted to technological innovations in pursuit of a greener world. The quality of its new passenger cars is undeniable, and we’re excited to be introducing the new range to our customers.”

The renovated facility will deliver two state-of-the art car sales showrooms, along with upgrades to the external used car sales area, updated servicing and repair workshop, and valeting facilities.

A designated private handover bay will enable customers to enjoy a personalised experience when they collect their new vehicle. The plans will also create additional customer parking and a convenient service drop off and collection area.

Mark Hickman, dealer principal at Mercedes-Benz of Tamworth and BYD Tamworth, said: “We want to give our customers more choice and allow them to find the right car to purchase in a relaxed, no-pressure, environment that has been tailor-made to give them the best experience.”

Work on the site is expected to last 12 months. During this period, the business will remain fully operational and will continue to offer new and used car sales and servicing.
